Abstract

Children's interest in reading in Telajung Village remains low due to uncontrolled gadget use, a lack of access to reading materials, and minimal parental support. This community service initiative aims to boost reading interest and reduce gadget dependency through a "Reading House" (*Rumah Baca*) program. The project employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, comprising stages of problem analysis, planning, outreach, program implementation—featuring reading, storytelling, discussion, and play activities—and evaluation. Involving 30 school-aged children, the initiative demonstrated success through a shift in the children's habits: moving away from gadget-based play toward reading engaging books. The program is expected to foster an awareness among the children regarding the importance of reading for their future.
